Easter Bingo Blitz

With Easter just around the corner I decided to create a fun activity for us all to do.
To take part just email me via my profile. I've created a Forum so we can share how we are doing.

In each square is a task. Like bingo the aim is to get a full house.
So for example if you choose childhood favorite.... You choose a book you read as a child eg. Enid Blyton.
After you read it post on the forum...

From A Fractured Light, everything has gone up in smoke, once friends now enemies. Skye has a big task a head of her as she fights to right everything before time runs out.

My Rating ⭐⭐⭐⭐
The final book in the A Beautiful Dark Series, tells the story of finding balance no matter what. I was captivated by Skye's journey to be herself throughout all the drama that was taking place around her.
I would definitely recommend reading the entire series. The ending was emotional. I had tears but I was moved at the same time.

Quotes
"We would make mistakes, we would argue, we would make up. We would lose the people we love and find new ones, and hold our memories close. We would fight for each other, again and again. We would keep living. We were in love. And we were only human, after all."

We learn what has happened and we see how Skye deals with the aftermath of the events of A Beautiful Dark.

My Rating ⭐⭐⭐⭐
There was a lot of things I didn't expect to happen. I was happy that things worked out in the end...
A Fractured Light had twists and soppy moments throughout each chapter. Only thing I will say is that it ended to soon or I just couldn't put it down either way it was worth the read to find out what happened next.
I would 100% recommend reading A Fractured Light especially after reading A Beautiful Dark.

Quotes

"I couldn't make a choice between chaos and control. Not because it had been made for me. But because there was no choice to make. It wasn't one or the other. They both were inside of me. They both were apart of me. I was noting without both sides. Take one away and would fall." ~ Skye"

Skye seems like a down-to-earth person. Asher the typical bad boy, and Devin the placid one.

My Rating ⭐⭐⭐⭐
I felt compelled to read until I had finished, leaving me questioning what would happen till the end....
It's Skye's birthday and her friends have planned a surprise party. When she steps out for a breath of fresh air, this mysterious stranger is there. When she goes back inside she notices that things begin to get strange from that point forward.
Both Asher (the stranger from her party) and Devin turn up at school and put Skye's life apart at the seams. Everywhere she looks one or both of them are there, and she has no idea why.
The ending for me was a big shocker I wasn't expecting it at all...makes you want to read the next book A Fractured Light.

Quotes
"When you like someone you have allow yourself to be vulnerable enough to let them in. Love is messy."
"Love. The great destroyer of worlds."

Swing Time

Two brown girls dream of

being dancers - but only one, Tracey, has talent. The other has ideas: about rhythm and time, about black bodies and black music, about what constitutes a tribe, or makes a person truly free. It's a close but complicated childhood friendship that ends abruptly in their early twenties, never to be revisited, but never quite forgotten, either.

Dazzling energetic and deeply human, Swing Time is a story about friendship and music and stubborn roots, about how we are shaped by these things and how we survive them. Moving from Northwest London to West Africa, it is an exuberant dance to the music of time.

The narrator comes across as a plain Jane her mother dressed them both as plainly as possible. Tracey is described as her mother's "striking accessory" with diamante everything, and expensive trainers.

My Rating ⭐

Set in the 1st person, Swing Time tells the story of the narrator and her friend, Tracey. Zadie Smith has sectioned of stages of the story into 7 separate parts.
In the first section the plot jumps from Tracey and the narrator meeting to church and then dancing. As a reader, I find myself baffled as it doesn't seem to have a flow it's just put together.
3 chapters in I had no other option than to put it as a "DNF". I just couldn't do it...from the blur it sounded like a book worth reading but I am so disappointed with how it is structured which is one of the reasons why I have to give it 1 star.

Heroic Abduction, #5

He'll do anything to be her

ISBN13: 9781927459492
knight in purple armor.

Bucking family tradition, Dyre is determined to become his planet's first hero, even if it breaks his mother's heart. He sets out on numerous quests to save the universe, however his altruism never seems to turn out quite as expected. Who knew that doing the right thing was so hard?
In between saving those who don't want his help - and the chaos that follows - he rescues a damsel in distress. She doesn't appreciate his heroic abduction, and even worse, once Dyre gets to know the outspoken human, he entertains less than noble thoughts about ravishing her.
It takes only a couple of comical mishaps, some hot kisses and danger for Sure and Betty to discover their happily ever after - and thank the star for a heroine who ends up saving this hero from his chivalrous side.

First Impression
Dyre is determined to be a hero, he just wishes that the "downtrodden and maidens would stop forcing him to kill them when he did them a favor."
It's a little hard to form an opinion of Betty as Heroic Abduction seems to been mainly about Dyre.

My Rating  ⭐⭐.5
Taking place years after Dual Abduction, heroic abduction tells the story of Betty, who we first met in dual abduction and Dyre.
The pair first meet on a planet when Betty is disguising herself to acquire loot from the aliens residents. Dyre foils the Betty's plan by coming to get rescue.
I really liked the fact that Eve Langlais created a lot of action and didn't rush the intimate scenes. However, I felt that the character development of Betty lacked depth. All Heroic Abduction seemed to do was highlight Dyre's quest to be a hero.
I struggled on whether to give 2 stars or 3. But as I liked the fact that there was a great fight scene, the sex scenes were few but passionate I decided on 2.5.
I would recommend Heroic Abduction for the action, but it's a shame about Betty.
